What a Pokémon coin is for
In the Pokémon Trading Card Game, many attacks and Trainer cards have effects that only trigger if you flip heads. That's what you need a coin for, and one comes standard in every theme deck, every collection, and every blister pack. Officially licensed coins are allowed at tournaments; an ordinary euro coin isn't.
About Greedent
Greedent is the hamster-like squirrel from the Galar region that stuffs its cheeks full of berries and throws them, too. It's the evolved form of Skwovet, and one of the few Pokémon whose entire design revolves around hoarding food.
Why loose coins get collected
Each coin belongs to one specific product and never gets reissued after that. Anyone who wants to complete a series has to buy them separately — which is exactly why they're listed here on their own. For players, it's simply a coin that makes the game work better than a coin from your wallet.
Other loose coins in the shop include the ones featuring Professor Juniper, Terapagos, Dragonite, Alolan Raichu, Sirfetch'd, Raikou, Zeraora, and Pikachu.
