What makes a spindown different
On a regular D20, the numbers are arranged randomly, so that a roll is fair. On a spindown, they're arranged in order: 20, 19, 18 and so on, spiraling around the die. That way, you turn to the next number in a single motion — exactly what you want when you're counting down your life total. For random rolls, it's actually less suitable.
Ixalan: pirates vs. dinosaurs
Ixalan, from 2017, is the set where four factions hunt for the golden city of Orazca: pirates, dinosaurs, vampires, and merfolk. It's one of Magic's most recognizable worlds, which is exactly why its spindowns are collected on their own.
