Description
Twilight Inscription (EN)
Twilight Inscription is a roll-and-write strategy board game set in the Twilight Imperium universe. Unlike its predecessor’s large-scale 4X experience (explore, expand, exploit, exterminate), Twilight Inscription offers a more streamlined yet still deeply strategic gaming experience.
Game overview
Publisher: Fantasy Flight Games
Number of players: 1-8
Playing time: ~90-120 minutes
Age: 14+
Genre: Sci-fi, Strategy, Roll-and-Write
Game mechanics
Players take on the role of galactic civilizations competing for control of the stars. The game is played with reusable, wipe-clean boards, on which players track their progress across four key sectors:
Navigation – Explore space and claim new star systems.
Expansion – Develop planets and build infrastructure for economic growth.
Industry – Manage resources and construct powerful structures.
Warfare – Reinforce fleets and engage in combat with rivals.
Each round, players roll dice and use the results to carry out actions on their boards. The goal is to allocate resources efficiently and expand your civilization while balancing military strength with technological progress.
Unique features
Asymmetric factions: Each player starts with a unique civilization offering different skills and strategies.
Simultaneous play: Turns happen at the same time, meaning less waiting, even with many players.
Solo mode: Includes a dedicated singleplayer mode in which you take on an AI-controlled system.
Deep strategy: Despite being a roll-and-write, it retains the deep decision-making of Twilight Imperium, making it appealing to strategy fans.
How do you win the game?
Victory is achieved by collecting the most victory points through exploration, warfare, resource management, and completing objectives. Players can also earn bonuses through secret objectives and public milestones.
