About the gameplay of Terraforming Mars

The players acquire unique project cards (of the more than Two hundred different project cards) By buying them in their hand. Buying tickets is expensive, so there is a balance between buying tickets (3 megac credits per card) and actually playing them (which can cost between 0 and 41 megac credits, depending on the project). Standard projects are always available to supplement your cards.

Your basic income, as well as your basic score, is based on your Terraform Rating (from 20), which increases every time you increase one of the three global parameters. However, your income is supplemented with your production and you will also receive VPs from many other sources.

Each player keeps his production and resources on his player plates, and the game uses six types of resources: Megacredits, steel, titanium, plants, energy and warmth. On the game board you fight for the best places for you city ​​tiles, oceant tiles and vegetable tiles. You also compete for different Milestones and prices who are worth many VPs. Each round is called a generation (guess why) and consists of the following phases:

1. Player's order This shifts clockwise.
2. Research phase: All players buy tickets from four personally drawn tickets.
3. Action phase: Players take turns 1-2 promotions from these options: play a card, claim a milestone, finance an award, use a standard project, convert a plant into green tiles (and increase oxygen), convert heat into a temperature and the use action of a card in the game. The turn goes around the table (sometimes several laps) until all players have fitted.
4. Production phase: Players receive resources based on their Terraform classification and production parameters.
