Description
The World Championship Deck 2024 – Crushing Thorn is the card-for-card reprint of the deck with which Fernando Cifuentes won the Masters Division at the 2024 Pokémon World Championships in Honolulu. That made him the first World Champion from Chile.
What’s in the box
- 1 complete deck of 60 cards
- 1 World Championships 2024 booklet
- 1 pin
- 1 coin
- 1 deck box with World Championships design
- 1 double-sided playmat that doubles as a poster
- 1 code card for Pokémon TCG Live
Four Pokémon, nothing more
The whole deck revolves around four copies of Iron Thorns ex, a Lightning-type Future Pokémon with 230 HP. Its Ability Initialization works as long as it is in the Active Spot: Pokémon with a Rule Box — ex, V, VSTAR, VMAX and Radiant — then have no Abilities, except Future Pokémon. Iron Thorns is one itself, so it shuts down the opponent without affecting itself.
Disruption as a strategy
Around it are Trainer cards that get in the opponent’s way: Crushing Hammer removes Energy, Pokémon Catcher drags the wrong Pokémon to the front and Lost City removes discarded Pokémon from the game for good. Four copies of Pokégear 3.0 make sure you actually find your Supporters.
Please note: not tournament legal
World Championship Decks are reprints with their own card back and are therefore not allowed in official tournaments. They are meant for collecting and for playing at home.
