Why 64 and Not 65
Western sleeve packs contain 65, Japanese packs 64 — a difference that simply comes down to habit in the two markets. Either way, a deck holds 60 cards, so you're left with a few spares regardless. Japanese Pokémon sleeves fit standard-size Pokémon TCG cards (63 × 88 mm), regardless of the card's language.
What the Mysterious Tea Party Was
A campaign built around an elegant tea party: Pikachu, Eevee and Alcremie at the table, in a lineup of about twenty-five items ranging from plushies to actual tableware — teapots, cups, plates, bags. The sleeves belong to that same lineup. It's one of those Pokémon Center series that has nothing to do with any card set and exists purely for the design.
What Sleeves Are For
Sleeves protect your cards from fingerprints, moisture and damaged edges, and they let a deck shuffle more smoothly. At tournaments they're effectively mandatory: every card back in your deck must look identical, so no one can tell which card you're holding from the back.
