What Mega Greninja ex does
The card has the Ability Mortal Shuriken: you discard a Basic Water Energy from your hand and put six damage counters on one of your opponent's Pokémon. Then you finish the job with Ninja Spinner, an attack that does up to 200 damage. So it's a card that can hit your opponent before you even attack.
Why there are two versions of the same card
The oversized card is deliberately too big to play with. It's meant for display — in a frame, on a shelf, behind glass. The regular foil version is the playable card. So you get the same artwork twice, in two different roles.
