Sword of Hearth and Home is a versatile Equipment card in Magic: The Gathering. It grants several beneficial effects to the creature it's equipped to:
+2/+2 Bonus: The equipped creature gets a +2/+2 power and toughness boost, making it more formidable in combat.
Protection: The creature gains protection from both green and white. This means it can't be damaged, enchanted, blocked, or targeted by green or white spells or abilities. Protection is a powerful ability that can help the equipped creature survive against certain threats.
Exile and Land Search: Whenever the equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, you have the option to exile one target creature you own. This exile effect can be used strategically to protect one of your creatures from removal or to remove an opponent's creature from the battlefield. Simultaneously, you get to search your library for a basic land card. Both the exiled creature and the basic land card are then put onto the battlefield under your control. This can provide you with additional resources and potentially replace an exiled creature.
Equip Cost: You can attach the Sword of Hearth and Home to a creature by paying an equip cost of 2. This allows you to move the equipment from one creature to another, making it flexible in different game situations.
The card's artwork by Randy Gallegos captures the theme of hearth and home, evoking a sense of warmth and comfort amidst the power and protection it offers.
