Hero's Blade is designed to synergize especially well with legendary creatures. Its automatic attachment trigger can save significant amounts of mana over the course of a game, especially in decks that frequently cast legendary creatures. This feature makes it a desirable equipment in formats like Commander, where the deck revolves around a legendary creature.

The flavor of the card fits well with its mechanics. Legendary heroes often have legendary weapons, so it makes sense that such a weapon would be drawn to them.
