Why a playmat helps
On a bare table, cards slide around and the edges of your sleeves wear down. On a fabric mat, you pick up a card more easily, the deck stays put, and dirt and moisture from the tabletop stay away from your cards. With a game like Lorcana, where you move a lot of cards each turn, you notice the difference right away.
Also a collectible
The Winterspell mats were released one artwork at a time, so anyone following the series lines them up side by side. Ariel – Sonic Warrior is one of the most striking images in the set.
From the same series there's also the mat with Maleficent – Dragon Fire. For the cards on it, Dragon Shield Matte sleeves are a popular choice.
