Game overview:

• Players: 2 to 4 players form two teams - the shadow against the free peoples. Each player uses a unique card deck that represents the forces and weaknesses of different factions in the war.
• Goal: The free peoples desperately try to complete their mission to destroy one ring, while at the same time defending their home countries against the advancing armies of Sauron. The shadow players have to strike quickly or slowly corrupt Frodo, by burdening him with injuries and losses.

Gameplay:

• Players take turns actions by playing cards that characters, armies, objects and events from the War of the Ring represent.
• Each card can help or delay the journey of the company ahead or be used to defend or conquer the fortresses of Central Earth.
• Every round a new battlefield map is activated, where teams compete for control over the strengths of Central Earth.
