What a deck box is for
Sooner or later, a deck of sixty sleeved cards held together with an elastic band ends up on the floor. A deck box keeps everything together, protects the edges, and fits in a bag. Japanese deck boxes are more compact than western ones, since they're sized for the slightly smaller Japanese cards — western cards in double sleeves make for a tight fit.
What “Write a Report” means
In the Japanese Pokémon games, saving your game isn’t called save but “writing a report” — レポートをかく. The prompt “Will you write a report?” is the last thing you see before switching off the console, and for anyone who grew up with these games in Japanese, that line is pure nostalgia. In July 2021 the Pokémon Center built a whole design line around it, drawn by picture-book artist and comic illustrator Noriyuki Echigawa, in a soft, hand-drawn style.
The matching sleeves from the same line are also available here. Another Japanese design is Battle Start!.
