What damage dice are for
In the Pokémon Trading Card Game, you track damage in steps of 10. Officially this is done with paper damage counters, but those blow away, stick to your fingers, and get lost. A die next to your Pokémon does the same job at a glance: you turn it to the number of tens of damage shown. Fast, and simply allowed at tournaments.
Where these come from
These dice originally came in an Elite Trainer Box — the big box with boosters, sleeves, energy cards, and accessories. Anyone buying that kind of box is usually after the cards and the sleeves, so the rest gets left behind. Every Elite Trainer Box has its own colors and artwork, so if you're collecting or matching a specific set, this loose set is exactly what's missing.
About Shining Fates
Shining Fates, from February 2021, was built around shiny Pokémon: the rare color variants, in their own subset with a shimmering background. The set was so sought-after that it went out of production within a year, after which prices only kept climbing.
