What damage dice are for
In the Pokémon Trading Card Game, you track damage in steps of 10. Officially you do that with paper damage counters, but those blow away, stick to your fingers and get lost. A die next to your Pokémon does the same job at a glance: you turn it to the number of tens of damage shown. Fast, and simply allowed at tournaments.
Why these are sold separately
These dice originally came in a large collector's box. Anyone who buys a box like that is usually after the cards and the sleeves, so the rest tends to be left over. Every box has its own colors and artwork, so for anyone chasing or collecting a specific set, the loose set is exactly what's missing.
Where these come from
Paradox Rift, from November 2023, centered on the Paradox Pokémon: forms from the distant past and the far future that landed in Paldea through a rift in time. There were two Elite Trainer Boxes, each covering one side of that story. Iron Valiant is the future counterpart of Gardevoir and Gallade: the same silhouettes, but made of metal.
