What a Pokémon coin is for

In the Pokémon Trading Card Game, many attacks and Trainer cards have effects that only happen if you flip heads. You need a coin for that, and one comes standard with every theme deck, every collection, and every blister pack. Officially licensed coins are tournament legal; a regular coin from your pocket isn't.

About the Mudkip starter deck

The Mudkip Constructed Starter Deck released in Japan on January 31, 2003, at the start of the ADV era — the card game tied to Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. It was a half-deck of nineteen different cards with Water, Psychic, and Metal Pokémon, and came with a rulebook, damage counters, status counters, and this dedicated Mudkip coin. Outside Japan the deck only ever appeared in Korean; a European release never happened.

About Mudkip

Mudkip is the Water starter of the Hoenn region, with the fin on its head that lets it sense vibrations in the water. It evolves into Marshtomp and then into Swampert. Among collectors it's become especially well known through the internet: there's hardly a Pokémon that's stayed a running joke for so long, so stubbornly.

Even older in this shop is the gold Chansey coin from 1997. From later years, Froakie and Pikachu in gold are also sold separately, among others.
