De Grote Muur is an asymmetrical worker/soldier placement board game with engine-building elements and an AI (Mongol Horde) that constantly attacks. Players must sometimes cooperate to defeat it. This large board game is from Awaken Realms.
Game Overview
Players control ancient Chinese clans that build the Great Wall and fend off Mongolian invaders. Everyone plays to win (by Honor = VP to earn), but collaboration is sometimes necessary to stop the hurdle. Each clan is asymmetrical due to their leader (resources, starting workers, and units), and these differences are amplified by advisors with unique skills.
Game phases

Production – Players simultaneously choose orders using covered cards and then determine the execution order via the Tea Track. This revolves around worker placement: gathering resources, building armies, hiring advisors, or generating extra income. Some actions are only executed once all workspaces are filled, which requires collaboration.

Wall defense – Players send their soldiers, archers, and cavalry to the Mongolian Horde at three wall sections. Placing units earns bonuses. If a wall section is breached (horde is stronger than the defense), all players suffer negative effects.

Building a wall – Players can spend resources to expand the wall and earn victory points.
During the game, players build their own engine based on their clan advantages and influence each other in all phases to achieve the most Honor points to earn.
